“BRIDGING THE GAP THROUGH EXPERIENTIAl

Mission
The team at Unexplored Adventures have a shared calling to  create a moment of trust, support, inclusion and caring.
At Unexplored Adventures we embrace diversity in terms of gender and race as well as to embrace a culture of ownership and accountability where learning is shared and where success is celebrated. At Unexplored Adventure our philosophy is to strive for experiential learning excellence.

Aim
This adventure centre’s aim is to target disadvantage children and school groups within the Eastern Cape and right through South Africa. The centre will use its tool such as Adventure Based Activities and it links the NCS to teach and guide them in life skills, team building, communication, environmental education, HIV Aids awareness, entrepreneurial activities, working towards a goal, working through personal challenge and therefore understanding the reason of these challenges and using them towards their advantages.

Underprivileged Children’s Camps
All programmes are based on the premise that experiential learning is the best way to learn. The nature of Unexplored Adventure centre’s programmes will vary according to the age groups therefore setting up  camps for different grades e.g. April Holidays Grade 4 – Grade 5, July Holiday Grade 6 – Grade 7, September Holiday Grade 8 – Grade 9, December Holiday Grade 10 – 11.

Skills Development Programs
All children are observed and those who show an interest in adventure based activities will be invited to enter the instructor hood training programmes, where they to will have the opportunity to lead in some of the camps and therefore can gain working experience, which also gives allowance to thought of what they would like to do in the future. Once these learners have been through the programme we will offer a post matric programme where learners will have to study  a correspondence course of their choice and will be sent on instructor courses i.e. abseiling, first aid, drivers licence, hiking etc… Through ARA (Adventure Recreations Association of South Africa) and MDT (Mountaineering Development Training), they will then be offered the opportunity to work at the centre for a minimum of two years.
